Please accept my condolences on the death of your loved one Mr Desmond Lum York. Death is something that we can never get used to because it was never part of God's purpose for mankind. We die because of our first parent disobedience to our Creator Jehovah God as Romans 5:12 says " That is why, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world and death through sin,and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned." The good news is that God promised to bring an end to death at Isaiah 25:8 it says " He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. " In the mean time he comfort those who have lost their loved ones in death. At John 5:28,29 Jesus says that all those in the memorial tombs (God's memory) will get a resurrection, that is a standing up again right here on the earth in the future. Imagine at that time instead of tears of sorrow, it will be tears of joy as you welcome back your loved one in a world without pain and suffering. To find out more about this wonderful hope that God has in store for obedient mankind and the many other promises found in the Bible, please visit .

To the family of Desmond Lum York, I am writing to express my condolences at this time and to share with you some comforting thoughts from the Bible. The Bible tells us that those who have died can come back to life again. Acts 24: 15 says ".....there is going to be a resurrection..." This means that you have the hope of seeing Desmond alive again, right here on earth! At the time that this takes place, life will be much better here on earth. There will be no more sickness, old age, pain, sadness or death anymore (Revelation 21:3,4). Jehovah has performed resurrections in the past and is eager to do it again because he hates death (1 Corinthians 15:26,John 11:39-44). I hope these verses have brought you some comfort. I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the York family on your loss of Desmond. Death can be a truly difficult experience to face. I have experienced the loss of several loved ones and coping with each loss was a challenge. I found comfort in learning that the Creator is not responsible for death rather he assures us that "he is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit" at Psalms 34:18. It is comforting to know that God knows our feelings and he promises to comfort us as he is a 'God of Comfort.' He does this by offering us a hope of a time when death will no longer 'sting us' and we will be able to be with our loved ones again. That hope is found in Hosea 13:14 where it says 'From the power of the Grave I will redeem them; From death I will recover them; Where are your stings, O Death? Where is your destructiveness, O Grave?...' This has brought me peace of mind and have revived my broken heart I hope it can do the same for you. Again my deepest sympathy to all the family and friends of Desmond York. I also benefited from a brochure "When Someone You Love Dies" found on I can share the link with you by email.
